Not because of fear or panic, but there is no harm in preparing yourself when the Corona virus outbreak continues to spread and swallow many victims.
In some countries, such as America and China, residents buy up some items at the supermarket. From toilet paper, drinking water, wet tissue, masks, are always sold out after each refill.
The COVID-19 outbreak due to the Corona virus did indeed cause some people to panic and hoard supplies at home. On social media like Instagram and Twitter, people even upload photos as evidence that these items are always empty.
"This is crazy. I know we have to stand by on sick days ... but this is just FLU. Huh. # Covid19panic #panicbuying," upload an Instagram account @ ninjawithwords.
"It's easy to get carried away by a panic wave of coronavirus, but there's no need to panic," Dr. Keith Roach, internist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
"I've seen people buy drinking water and instant noodles in packs, and that's crazy," he said, as quoted by Men's Health.
Dr. Roach explained that water supplies would not be affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Only recommended to prepare a few for inventory, namely:
1. Fruits and Vegetables
Long ago, people filled their shelves with canned food for emergencies. Dr. Roach prefers fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits because they contain nutrients as well as fresh fruits / vegetables.
2. Various types of healthy snacks
According to Dr. Roach, you need enough food (type and amount) to keep you happy for 2 weeks. It doesn't have to be oatmeal, you can bring your favorite chocolate.
3. Decongestant and Anti-inflammatory
Although the symptoms vary, Dr. Roach said the most common symptoms were coughing, headaches, and muscle aches. He suggested preparing decongestants and anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen.
4. Prescription Medication
This is what Dr. Roach He suggested to have a supply of medicines at home for at least a month. Tell your plan to the pharmacist so he can provide the medicine you need.
5. Favorite Foods
Maybe hospital food doesn't suit your stomach. Or you might only be able to eat porridge or soup every time the flu strikes. So, Dr. Roach recommends providing your favorite foods that can encourage you - at least alleviate your suffering - every time you have a cold or a cold.
